Music of the Baroque
Today, Saturday September 4th, we explore the music of the Baroque era. We’ll be including the work of a wide range of composers. Many will be familiar; other perhaps less so; or they may have written pieces that we know well but have no idea of who composed them — for example English composer Thomas Arne, who wrote Rule Britannia but also a range of other pieces which deserve more interest than is usually paid to them.
Then at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific / 8pm or midnight UK time, there’s another chance to hear Episode 15 of “Where’ve You Been?”, our twice-monthly show on places to visit and things to do around the Second Life Grid. In this episode, we visit Art Korner SL, which focuses on art and photography showcased in-world across many different genres and forms. You can read more about it here.
And every four hours from 4am Pacific/noon in the UK, tune in for “The Engines of Our Ingenuity”, from the University of Houston, about the machines that make our civilization run and the people whose ingenuity created them.

In Episode 14 of “Where’ve You Been”, we visit the Haunted Mansion tribute on Lythria. Owned by Nance Clowes, it is a tribute to the theme park attraction first developed by Walt Disney Imagineers for Disneyland, and subsequently for other Disney destinations.
And in “Tarot @ Teatime” Episode 13, Honey and Willow discuss different approaches to studying the Major Arcana, and how to identify your Personality and Soul cards. (Please ignore the misleading URL of the link! — it’s episode 13, not 12.)

“Where’ve You Been” Episode 13 features The SLEA Bridge Project, a two region connective stretch between the SLEA home region (with its performing arts centre, Machinimaland, and education spaces, etc) and the quarter region small project area.
And in “Tarot @ Teatime” Episode 12, Honey and Willow explore the history behind the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck.

And on this occasion we are also exploring a range of works by J S Bach — some well-known and others less familiar.
Then at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific / 8pm or midnight UK time, there’s another chance to hear Episode 13 of “Where’ve You Been?”, our twice-monthly show on places to visit and things to do around the Second Life Grid. This time we’re paying a return visit to the Second Life Endowment for the Arts (SLEA), focusing on the nearly-completed Bridge Project. You’ll find more details here. “Where’ve You Been” Episode 11 features the amazing Arcadian Rapture Remastered - an incredible cyber-deco shopping mall in Second Life.
“Tarot @ Teatime” Episode 9 discusses how agency, function, and context influence the interpretation of cards in a reading. A spread of three cards is read to address two different issues to demonstrate the importance of context.
“Tarot @ Teatime” Episode 10 looks at The Major Arcana and various way of thinking about these twenty-two cards as a group. We discuss the notion of The Fool’s Journey, Jungian Archetypes, and the Major Arcana as a depiction of the interplay between order and chaos.

“Where’ve You Been” Episode 10 features the Limoncello Airship Art Gallery, while “Tarot @ Teatime” Episode 8 introduces the role of narrative in reading: the Tarot reader as storyteller.
In addition, there is a unique Special Edition of Tarot @ Teatime titled “Demystifying The Tarot” in which Honey Heart and Willow Moonfire introduce the subject of Tarot and present a brief history of the cards, and how they may be read with practical examples. It’s a fascinating introduction to the topic and will be found especially useful if you want a quick refresher course on the background to the Tarot. This special episode was recorded live at the Second Life 18th Birthday on 23 June 2021.
