About

Virtual Community Radio (VCRadio) is a music and spoken word internet radio station, aimed at communities in virtual worlds, notably Second Life, as well as listeners on the wider internet. The station was founded in early 2021 by former Radio Riel DJ and co-host of the Designing Worlds TV series, Elrik Merlin, with the support of Caledonia Skytower of Seanchai Library and designer Honey Heart.

From its founding until the Fall of 2026, VCR streamed Light Classical, Easy Listening, Classical and Early Music 24/7. In the fall of 2026, the station refocused its efforts on its original programming, and producing podcast-like content for posting on Mixcloud. Programs originate with a live presentation in the virtual world of Second Life, and are then released in recorded form on Mixcloud shortly thereafter.

The monthly schedule includes music on the first Sunday of the month, at 2pm Pacific, when we present an hour of music on a theme, curated by Caledonia or Elrik: First Sunday. “The Magic of The Musical”, hosted by Caledonia Skytower of the Seanchai Library, explores the world of musical theatre discussing the shows, the music and more on the third Saturday in the month at 2pm Pacific.

The station has its headquarters in the Notthund region in Second Life, in the form of a custom Art Deco-styled theatre by Honey Heart.

Past programs that can be found on Mixcloud include “The MOST”, “Tarot at Teatime”, and other special presentations.
