Classic(al) Soundtracks
Sunday, June 28th at 2:00 pm SLT, Elrik Merlin presents a live broadcast from the performance area at Seanchai Library, at the SL23B celebrations.
In keeping with this year’s Golden Age of Hollywood theme, the programme explores a fascinating corner of film music: original movie scores written in the form of miniature concertos.
Focusing primarily on British cinema of the 1940s, the programme features specially composed works that brought the grandeur and drama of the concert hall to the silver screen — many of which became hits in their own right. At its heart is Richard Addinsell’s enduring Warsaw Concerto, accompanied by several of the celebrated “Denham Concerti” by composers including Charles Williams and Hubert Bath.

TMoTM: S05E03 – And the Award Goes to … 2026 Edition!
Welcome back to the Magic of The Musical, where host Caledonia Skytower explores the songs, stories and lore of the musical theatre. Tune in at 2pm slt/pacific on Saturday, June 20th for this month’s episode.
It’s Awards Season again! It’s been an interesting year beginning in April with the Olivier Awards in London, then the Drama Desk Awards in greater New York in May, and finally the Antoinette Perry (“Tony”) Awards on Broadway this June. Cale observes the winners from all three in the categories of Musical and Musical Revival, shares songs and muses on what trends are represented in this year’s nominees.
Where Have You Been? S06E01 – Mulafell
Welcome to Where Have You Been Season Six! This episode will be broadcast at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time on Wednesdays and Saturdays from June 10th.
We won’t spend a lot of precious time marveling at the wonder of the sixth year of us doing this together, for our Virtual Community Radio listeners. Even after all this time, there’s still so much to explore on the Second Life Grid. That’s the best part of it. So let’s dig in!
We’re beginning this new season with a destination that combines a lot of different appealing elements: exploration, cosy niches to linger in, and subtle nods to various elements of fantasy and fiction. We are visiting Mulafell, the capital of the four-region Mulashire. The McGregor-Midnight Family generously make their lands available to residents, including the regions Mulaness, Mulahope, and Mularune.
There are many lovely celebrations of Middle Earth in Second Life. Lovers of the lore of J.R.R. Tolkien can certainly find plenty of places to appeal to their inner Elf or Hobbit. But Mulafell has a great deal more than just that, including a train and boat rides. The creators have done a terrific job of creating visual carrots to follow, always leading you to more. It is a delightful destination to explore either on your own or with a friend.

First Sunday — June: The Flute
This programme went out live at 2pm SLT/Pacific on Sunday, June 7th. It is now available on Mixcloud.
At Virtual Community Radio, we believe Sunday afternoons are the perfect time to treat yourself to something special. That’s why we invite you to join us on the First Sunday (usually) afternoon of each month as we present a different musical treat: around an hour of music on a theme. It could be anything — new age music, orchestral classics, soundtracks, or music celebrating a particular culture.
This month: Every civilization has its flutes — ranging from small whistle-like flutes, to the complex concert flutes of the classical symphony orchestra. Some flutes have wandered into folk music and even rock and roll. In this month’s First Sunday, Caledonia Skytower explores the music of flutes from around the globe and across time.
