Wel­come to August’s episode of The Mag­ic of The Musi­cal, where host Cale­do­nia Sky­tow­er explores the songs, sto­ries, and lore of the musi­cal the­atre. Tune in at 2pm slt/pacific on Sat­ur­day, August 15th for the newest episode in her “Five Lessons” sub-series where she inter­views actors, direc­tors, design­ers, dancers and oth­ers who have spent time and tal­ent in musi­cal the­atre. They share the lessons that being a part of a per­form­ing com­mu­ni­ty have taught them about life, the stage, and humanity.

This “Five Lessons” episode fea­tures Cale’s inter­view with north­west actor, direc­tor, and pro­duc­er Chris Ser­face — mak­ing his sec­ond vis­it to the VCRa­dio air­waves! Join us on-the-air or at Sean­chai Library’s Ceil­u­radh Glen for today’s broadcast.

Chris was raised in the Pacif­ic North­west (Olympia), where he dis­cov­ered the the­atre at an ear­ly age and became involved with the local com­mu­ni­ty scene.  Dur­ing his edu­ca­tion­al and pro­fes­sion­al career, he has trav­eled through­out the West­ern U.S., work­ing close­ly with many the­atres as an actor, tech­ni­cian, direc­tor, musi­cian, vol­un­teer, or board mem­ber (some­times all of them at the same time).  He cur­rent­ly sits on the boards of the Wash­ing­ton State Com­mu­ni­ty The­atre Asso­ci­a­tion and is the a Past Pres­i­dent for the Amer­i­can Asso­ci­a­tion of Com­mu­ni­ty The­atre (www.aact.org). He has served as Man­ag­ing Artis­tic Direc­tor of Taco­ma Lit­tle The­atre  (TLT) for well over a decade. TLT is among the old­est com­mu­ni­ty the­atres in the West­ern Unit­ed States, found­ed in 1918.
