Where Have You Been? S04E09: Journey to the Centre of the Earth
We’re pleased to present the latest episode in our original series, “Where Have You Been?”, where we discuss things to do and places to visit across the Second Life Grid. Episodes are broadcast on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time. In this episode we experience Journey to the Centre of the Earth, at SLEA 8.
This is a classic adventure that our listeners can experience for themselves now at Second Life Endowment for the Arts Region 8. This odyssey was created by Klark Harvy & Virtuoso Performing Arts, and was inspired by Jules Vernes’ 1864 novel Journey to the Center of the Earth — the story of an adventurous geology professor who chances upon a manuscript in which a 16th-century explorer claims to have found a route to the Earth’s core. Professor Lidenbrock can’t resist the opportunity to investigate, and with his nephew Axel, he sets off across Iceland in the company of Hans Bjelke, a native guide. Virtuoso Performing Arts has created a region-wide exploration that celebrates the good Professor’s journey and all the wonders that he and his companions encounter along the way.
Along with key members of the Virtuoso company and Metaharper creator Arrehn Oberlander, Virtuoso presents a fully immersive Journey experience, based on the hike the travelers in Vernes’ novel might have taken to reach the entrance to the volcano.
This programme airs at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific, on Sept 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28.
