Tarot @ Teatime Episode 39: Tarot Storytelling
Tune in for the final episode of the current season of our original series, “Tarot @ Teatime” as we discuss Tarot Storytelling.
Episode 39: Tarot Storytelling
In this episode we talk about Tarot storytelling, and why this is so important to both developing as a reader as well as to providing querents with a really powerful, compelling narrative.
Narrative – storytelling – is an important part of a Tarot reader’s toolbox, and in fact, Tarot readers have traditionally been storytellers, tellers of tales that they see in their cards.
We talk about how Tarot readers can develop this skill, and how they can use their cards to begin developing a narrative — a story that is unique and germane to their querent.
“Tarot @ Teatime” is broadcast on Thursdays and Sundays at noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time.
This is the final episode of the current series of Tarot @ Teatime. You can find the existing shows in the series on Mixcloud.
A new series begins on Sunday, April 14th. In each episode, Honey Heart will discuss one card from the popular Rider Waite Smith deck, covering several different aspects of the card and including a sample 3‑card reading featuring the card in the key position in the layout. Watch this space for more information.

Tarot @ Teatime Episode 38: The Haughty Swords
Tune in for the latest episode of our original series, “Tarot @ Teatime” as we discuss the suit of Swords.
When Pamela Coleman Smith designed the cards we now know as the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, she was influenced by an early pack, the Sola Busca, that she saw pictures of in the British Museum. This influence is particularly noticeable in the suit of Swords.
However the result of this influence is that the imagery of the Sword cards in RWS and later RWS-derived decks can be found a little misleading to the reader.
In Episode 38 we work through the cards, discussing their imagery and how they may be read in a way that is true to their character, focusing on words and communication.
“Tarot @ Teatime” is broadcast on Thursdays and Sundays at noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time, that’s 8pm and midnight UK time.

Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 37: De-Mystifying the Tarot
This episode was recorded on June 22 before a live audience at VCRadio Tower at the Second Life 19th Birthday.
The programme is, as its name suggests, intended to provide an introduction to the Tarot, and it covers a little of the history of the cards and gives some pointers, suggestions and examples on how to read them.
The show goes out on Thursdays and Sundays at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific/SLT.
Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 36: Binary Readings
Normally we would suggest that readers use at least a 3‑card spread with their querents, as these can give a surprising amount of information.
However there are times and circumstances where a querent or a reader needs a quick yes/no answer.
These “binary” readings can be carried out with one or two cards, or you can start with one or two and expand the reading with an added combination to give more detail.
We look at methods of carrying out binary and combination readings, and provide examples.
The episode goes out on Thursdays and Sundays at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific/SLT.

Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 35: Relationship Spreads
The most popular topic for readings is relationships: whether romantic, work-related, family or friendships. Most questions concern one of three aspects of relationships: attracting them, maintaining them, or endings/loss. This episode looks at spreads that are helpful in answering these kinds of very common questions. In addition the programme provides some suggestions on how to frame the most effective questions — and the questions to avoid.
The episode goes out on Thursdays and Sundays at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific/SLT, up to and including June 30th.

Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 34: Tarot Etiquette
In episode 34 we discuss some of the more esoteric aspects of card reading such as the etiquette of working with tarot, using and storing the cards, how to frame a query for maximum impact, and then finally the metaphysical aspect of the cards, or why they work in the material plane as well as in a virtual setting.

Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 33: The Occult Tarot
As far as we know, Tarot cards were not used for divination until the late 18th century. French occultists drew together the threads of secret knowledge that formed the Western Mystery Tradition. We look at that tradition and examine how occultists in France and Britain linked it to the Tarot, forever changing the appearance of the cards and the ways in which they are read.
Episode 33 premieres on Thursday May 26th at 12 noon and 4pm /SLT Pacific Time (8pm and midnight in the UK) and is repeated at the same times on Sundays and Thursdays up to and including June 5th.
