Where Have You Been? S04E12: We Orange the World at Artsville
We’re pleased to present the latest episode in our original series, “Where Have You Been?”, where we discuss things to do and places to visit across the Second Life Grid.
Episodes are broadcast on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time.
In this episode we discuss a new installation at Artsville: “We Orange The World”
Orange is the signature color of the United Nations women’s UNiTE campaign, and it represents a future free from gender-based violence. The installation “We Orange the World”, now open at Artsville galleries, embraces both the cheer of the color, and the menace of gender-based violence.
“We Orange the World” features the work of four women artists. The project is open November 25th through December 10th and invites Second Life Residents to explore exhibits and installations, enjoy live music and parties, hear poetry that inspires, and collect quite a number of special gifts available in the central plaza of the installation. The four featured galleries are very distinct, and all mix emotional resonance with call to advocacy from artists Tess, Selen, Deborakaz and Ilyra. The work is as brave as it is varied, with a variety of styles and mediums involved.
The exhibit coincides with the UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism — an opportunity to revitalize commitments, and call for accountability and action from decision-makers, as the world approaches the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 2025 – a visionary blueprint for achieving gender equality and women’s and girls’ rights everywhere.
This episode airs at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific, on November 27 & 30, and December 4 & 7 — times subject to change.
