Where Have You Been? S05E02 — Raglan Shire Art Walk

In the second programme of our new season, we pay a visit to an event that, while quite well-known, is deserving of more attention: the Raglan Shire Art Walk. This programme will air on Saturdays and Wednesdays until June 11th, at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time.
And don’t miss “Engines of Our Ingenuity” — presented by the University of Houston: the series about the machines that make our civilization run and the people whose ingenuity created them. The programme is broadcast every 4 hours from 4am Pacific on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The event we are highlighting in this edition is a popular annual one that usually gets a lot of SL media coverage. On “Where Have You Been?” we generally skip covering events or destinations that get covered extensively by SL Media bloggers and vloggers. But we think this long time SL art event merits some special consideration this year. The Raglan Shire Artwalk, an annual celebration of art, runs (this year) from May 15th through June 18th. There’s been art on the hedge at Raglan Shire’s art show since 2007! That’s a lot of art, and a lot of years, even by Second Life standards.
It is easy to take for granted events that happen on an annual basis — especially after nearly two decades. That’s an eternity in Second Life! But stepping onto the manicured terrain of Raglan Shire at Artwalk time this year reminded us how amazing this event is; both because of its longevity and because the impact of the works are as inspiring as any other art destination you’ll find in Second Life, so we should remind people — it’s still there, and it’s still a great event to visit. The community of Raglan Shire celebrates friendship and creativity. They invite you to roam the hedges of The Shire to discover and enjoy the incredible bounty of art works on display, many of which are also available to purchase!
