In the sec­ond pro­gramme of our new sea­son, we pay a vis­it to an event that, while quite well-known, is deserv­ing of more atten­tion: the Raglan Shire Art Walk. This pro­gramme will air on Sat­ur­days and Wednes­days until June 11th, at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time.

And don’t miss “Engines of Our Inge­nu­ity” — pre­sent­ed by the Uni­ver­si­ty of Hous­ton: the series about the machines that make our civ­i­liza­tion run and the peo­ple whose inge­nu­ity cre­at­ed them. The pro­gramme is broad­cast every 4 hours from 4am Pacif­ic on Wednes­days and Saturdays.

The event we are high­light­ing in this edi­tion is a pop­u­lar annu­al one that usu­al­ly gets a lot of SL media cov­er­age. On “Where Have You Been?” we gen­er­al­ly skip cov­er­ing events or des­ti­na­tions that get cov­ered exten­sive­ly by SL Media blog­gers and vlog­gers. But we think this long time SL art event mer­its some spe­cial con­sid­er­a­tion this year. The Raglan Shire Art­walk, an annu­al cel­e­bra­tion of art, runs (this year) from May 15th through June 18th. There’s been art on the hedge at Raglan Shire’s art show since 2007! That’s a lot of art, and a lot of years, even by Sec­ond Life standards.

It is easy to take for grant­ed events that hap­pen on an annu­al basis — espe­cial­ly after near­ly two decades. That’s an eter­ni­ty in Sec­ond Life! But step­ping onto the man­i­cured ter­rain of Raglan Shire at Art­walk time this year remind­ed us how amaz­ing this event is; both because of its longevi­ty and because the impact of the works are as inspir­ing as any oth­er art des­ti­na­tion you’ll find in Sec­ond Life, so we should remind peo­ple — it’s still there, and it’s still a great event to vis­it. The com­mu­ni­ty of Raglan Shire cel­e­brates friend­ship and cre­ativ­i­ty. They invite you to roam the hedges of The Shire to dis­cov­er and enjoy the incred­i­ble boun­ty of art works on dis­play, many of which are also avail­able to purchase!
