Tarot @ Teatime — Live from SL18B!
Today, June 30th at 5pm Pacific Time, Honey Heart & Willow Moonfire, the hosts of our popular series “Tarot @ Teatime”, will be presenting a special live show from our exhibit at the Second Life 18th Birthday Celebration. The topic will be the symbolism of selected animals in Tarot and how they impact a reading.
It will be broadcast on our stream at http://main.vcradio.org — or feel free to join us on the middle floor, Level 2, of our exhibit on SLB Astonish.
Hits In Hi-Fi
Today we’ll take a nostalgic journey back to the 1950s and 1960s and beyond, when music was on vinyl (and on the radio) and home audio was new and excitingly futuristic… with Hits In Hi-Fi.
In the early days of stereo, a significant number of albums were released that were designed especially to show off the wonders of this new way of presenting musical entertainment. Sounds “ping-ponged” across the stereo soundstage; instruments appeared hard on one side and then hard on the other… and there were a lot of space references, bloops and bleeps starting and ending the pieces — and once the Moog Synthesiser became available, that was included in the mix too.
Where’ve You Been — Live from SL18B
Sunday, June 27 sees a second special edition of “Where’ve You Been?”, broadcast live from SL18B, the Community Celebration of 18 years of the virtual world of Second Life.
At 3pm Pacific / 11pm in the UK, join us for a live, extended edition of our Second Life travel show, “Where’ve You Been?”, where Caledonia Skytower and Elrik Merlin travel around the SL Grid, finding interesting things to do and places to see. This time, from our Discovery Tent on the ground floor, Level 1, of our exhibit on SLB Astonish, we’ll discuss some of the sights and sites around the SL18B. Join us on SL18B Astonish — or simply tune in to https://main.vcradio.org .
In addition, you can enjoy the broadcast of the latest edition of “Tarot @ Teatime” — our popular show demystifying the Tarot — at noon or 4pm Pacific / 8pm or midnight in the UK.
Classical Landscapes
Saturday 26 June: Today’s programme consists of music from some of the Great Masters of Classical and Romantic music (and a few from the Baroque), including Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and many more.
Sit back and enjoy some of the greatest music ever written, performed by the leading orchestras and solo performers of the world.
There will not be a broadcast of “Where Have You Been?” today: instead we’ll be doing a live broadcast from the Second Life 18th Birthday showgrounds tomorrow, Sunday 27th, at 3pm Pacific / 11pm UK time, where we’ll take another look at some of the exhibits.
However, you can hear “Engines of Our Ingenuity” at the usual time, every 4 hours from 4am Pacific.

The Black Mass: Two Tales by Edgar Allan Poe
Join us on Friday at a little after 12 noon or 4pm Pacific time, 8pm or midnight in the UK , for another episode in the landmark radio drama series The Black Mass, created by the late Erik Bauersfeld and his colleagues at the Pacifica radio station KPFA in Berkeley, California, over fifty years ago. In 30 chilling tales of mystery, imagination and the human mind, The Black Mass brings you some of literature’s most haunting stories, by masters of the craft — many of whom are best-known in other fields. Many thanks to John Whiting, co-producer of many of these recordings, and Erik Bauersfeld himself, for permission to broadcast these classic recordings.
Note that the programme will not begin until the track playing at the top of the hour has finished, so the actual start time of the episode will be a few minutes after the hour.
Tarot @ Teatime 9 — Agency, Function & Context
Thursday 24 June sees the first broadcast of Episode 9 of our popular series, “Tarot @ Teatime”, with Honey Heart and Willow Moonfire, exploring the history of the cards and how they may be read. Tune in to http://main.vcradio.org at noon or 4pm Pacific / 8pm or midnight UK time. This episode will repeat on Sunday.
In this episode, Willow and Honey discuss how agency, function, and context influence the interpretation of cards in a reading. A spread of three cards is read to address two different issues to demonstrate the importance of context.
If you’ve missed any episodes of this series, remember you can catch previous episodes on demand at Mixcloud.
A Celtic Festival
Welcome to a Celtic Music Festival featuring music from around the Celtic Lands, alongside music inspired by or expressing Celtic themes, in celebration of the recent Summer Solstice.
Today you’ll hear a wide variety of Celtic and Celtic-influenced material, with orchestral works like Shaun Davey’s Brendan Voyage; a wide range of performances by traditional Celtic artists; and music inspired by the Celtic heritage. There are also some large-scale performances from artists like Celtic Woman, Celtic Thunder and even the Cincinnati Pops! And listen out for some of the Celtic/Goddess themed pieces from Nashville-based artist Laura Powers’ Legends of the Goddess trilogy, along with Rutland Boughton’s seldom-heard classic, first performed in Glastonbury between the wars, The Immortal Hour.
During the SL18B celebrations we won’t be broadcasting our SL travel series, “Where Have You Been?” at its usual times on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Instead we are doing a live show from SLB on Sunday 27 June at 3pm Pacific / 11pm in the UK, featuring places to see around the Birthday regions.
