“Where’ve You Been?” Visits the Birdlight Cinema

At 12 noon and 4pm Pacific Time on Wednesday and Saturday, tune in for Episode 6 of “Where’ve You Been?” — our twice-monthly series on things to do and places to see on the Second Life Grid, with Caledonia Skytower and Elrik Merlin. In this episode we discover a unique miniature movie theatre where you can watch a full programme of short films, many award-winning.

Flora Sperling lives in Germany, and brings her love of cinema and imagination to her two cinemas in Second Life: Birdlight and Birdolumoj.  The venues present twin programs from the best of short animation features, changing every fortnight.

Flora has produced some videos in SL herself, including one that celebrates the anniversary of Birdolumoj Cinema’s home on Auroro Island, last winter. “I have produced a few more videos. Their quality is not of first class, I must admit. But it is fun!” Flora humbly admits.

“I have a very special understanding about the relation between imagination and reality. For me, imagination is of higher value than so-called reality. In this way I can manage my so-called reality much better.

“This is perhaps the reason why movies have always fascinated me. And maybe it’s also why I find Second Life so fascinating.”

Beginning April 15, Flora plans to offer:

BRUSH (3:37)

A painting fox has a crush on his neighbor. When he tries to hide this, his paintings come to life.
