The Black Mass 11: The Imp of the Perverse & Manuscript Found in a Bottle — Edgar Allan Poe
Join us on Friday at a little after 12 noon or 4pm Pacific time (8pm and midnight in the UK) for another episode in the landmark radio drama series The Black Mass, created by the late Erik Bauersfeld and his colleagues at the Pacifica radio station KPFA in Berkeley, California, over fifty years ago. In 30 chilling tales of mystery, imagination and the human mind, The Black Mass brings you some of literature’s most haunting stories, by masters of the craft — many of whom are best-known in other fields.
Note that the episode will not start until the track playing at the top of the hour has finished, so the actual start time of the episode will be a few minutes after the hour.
Today: 11: “The Imp of the Perverse” & “The Manuscript Found in a Bottle” — Edgar Allan Poe
Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 5

The show airs on Thursdays and Sundays at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific Time (8pm or midnight in the UK), and a new episode premieres every two weeks.
Episode 5 covers Part One of the significance of numbers in the Minor Arcana. We present qualities and keywords associated with the numbers one through five.

“Where’ve You Been?” Visits ‘once upon a time’
At 12 noon and 4pm Pacific Time on Wednesday and Saturday, tune in for Episode 7 of “Where’ve You Been?” — our twice-monthly series on things to do and places to see on the Second Life Grid, with Caledonia Skytower and Elrik Merlin. In this episode we visit once upon a time by Justice Vought — a place that mixes “The Land of the Giants” with “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” in an experience that encourages exploration and requires an active sense of humor.
Hits In Hi-Fi
Today we’ll take a nostalgic journey back to the 1950s and 1960s, when music was on vinyl (and on the radio) and home audio was new and excitingly futuristic… with Hits In Hi-Fi.
In the early days of stereo, a significant number of albums were released that were designed especially to show off the wonders of this new way of presenting musical entertainment. Sounds “ping-ponged” across the stereo soundstage; instruments appeared hard on one side and then hard on the other… and there were a lot of space references, bloops and bleeps starting and ending the pieces — and once the Moog Synthesiser became available, that was included in the mix too.
Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 4
Sunday 25 April marks the last regular broadcast of the fourth part of our twice-monthly series on the Tarot, Tarot @ Teatime, with Willow Moonfire and Honey Heart. The show airs on Thursdays and Sundays at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific Time. The next episode, Part 5, premieres on Thursday April 29.
Episode 4 covers Part Two of The Four Elements. We present qualities and keywords associated the elements of Air and Earth, which are represented by the suits of Swords and the suit of Pentacles.
The primary resource mentioned is the Rider Waite Smith Tarot deck. It is available from the publisher, US Games Systems, Inc. and numerous bookstores and online book sellers.
Light Classical Music
Today on Virtual Community Radio, we’re pleased to present a programme of light classical music, one of our core genres. This is a repeat of our programme of April 21, which we had to truncate due to internet issues between us and the server. Hopefully all will be well today.
The programme features a wide range of both artists and composers, some well-known and some, perhaps, who are seldom heard of. Listen out for the likes of Tomlinson, Ketelbey, Alwyn, Gunning and Addinsell, for example, to name but a few, and enjoy a day of tuneful, often relaxing orchestral music.
