First Sundays: Sunday July 6th at 2pm SLT/Pacific Time – American Tone Poems

Now available on Mixcloud!

Orchestral music has a long tradition of works that illustrate or evoke the content of a poem, short story, novel, painting, landscape, or other (non-musical) source known as tone poems, symphonic poems, or programme music. In the 20th Century, notable American composers and arrangers celebrated their country without stars, banner-waving, or red-white-n-blue; but through symphonic poems that celebrate the people and scenic locales that bring richness and variety to their North American home.

You might not be able to dance to them, but these soaring works can fill your soul. Composers featured include Aaron Copland, Ferde Grofe, and George Gershwin. DJ Caledonia Skytower, presents, live from the VCRadio studio at SL22B — on Sunday July 6th at 2pm SLT/Pacific Time.

At Virtual Community Radio, we believe Sunday afternoons are the perfect time to treat yourself to something special.  That’s why we invite you to join us at 2pm SLT on the First Sunday afternoon of each month as we present a different musical treat: one hour of music on a theme. It could be anything from new age music, orchestral classics, soundtracks, or music celebrating a particular culture.
