First Sunday — June: The Flute
At Virtual Community Radio, we believe Sunday afternoons are the perfect time to treat yourself to something special. That’s why we invite you to join us on the First Sunday (usually) afternoon of each month as we present a different musical treat: around an hour of music on a theme. It could be anything — new age music, orchestral classics, soundtracks, or music celebrating a particular culture.
This month: Every civilization has its flutes — ranging from small whistle-like flutes, to the complex concert flutes of the classical symphony orchestra. Some flutes have wandered into folk music and even rock and roll. In this month’s First Sunday, Caledonia Skytower explores the music of flutes from around the globe and across time.
This programme will go out live at 2pm SLT/Pacific on Sunday, June 7th.
