First Sunday — June: The Flute

At Vir­tu­al Com­mu­ni­ty Radio, we believe Sun­day after­noons are the per­fect time to treat your­self to some­thing spe­cial. That’s why we invite you to join us on the First Sun­day (usu­al­ly) after­noon of each month as we present a dif­fer­ent musi­cal treat: around an hour of music on a theme. It could be any­thing — new age music, orches­tral clas­sics, sound­tracks, or music cel­e­brat­ing a par­tic­u­lar culture.

This month: Every civ­i­liza­tion has its flutes — rang­ing from small whis­tle-like flutes, to the com­plex con­cert flutes of the clas­si­cal sym­pho­ny orches­tra. Some flutes have wan­dered into folk music and even rock and roll. In this mon­th’s First Sun­day, Cale­do­nia Sky­tow­er explores the music of flutes from around the globe and across time.

This pro­gramme will go out live at 2pm SLT/Pacific on Sun­day, June 7th.
