Hits In Hi-Fi
Today — Saturday 27th November — we’ll take a nostalgic journey back to the 1950s and 1960s and beyond, when music was on vinyl (don’t touch the playing surface!) and home audio was new and excitingly futuristic… with Hits In Hi-Fi.
In the early days of stereo, a significant number of albums were released that were designed especially to show off the wonders of this new way of presenting musical entertainment. Sounds “ping-ponged” across the stereo soundstage; instruments appeared hard on one side and then hard on the other… and there were a lot of space references, bloops and bleeps starting and ending the pieces — and once the Moog Synthesiser became available, that was included in the mix too.
The Fourth Tower of Inverness continues… Week 10
TODAY on Virtual Community Radio — Friday, November 26th.
The Fourth Tower of Inverness continues with Week 10 of this exciting mystery adventure.
Airs just after the hour at Noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time / 8pm and midnight in the UK.
Jack has spotted Lord Jowls in the crowd… but how can they actually meet?
Arriving at the Inverness estate, Jack Flanders encounters strange happenings at the old Victorian mansion. Jack is told that there are only three towers in Inverness, even though he is certain he has seen a fourth. An old jukebox, which he cannot locate, plays a haunting 50’s tune just before an accident happens. Jack pursues the hidden jukebox, searching through sliding panels, hollow walls, and underground passageways until finally he discovers the entrance to the Fourth Tower that only he can see. In all these years, eight people have ventured into the Tower, never to be seen again. Jack is the ninth…
Upon entering the tower, Jack discovers steps that spiral endlessly upward. On each level there is a door, and as our hero opens each door he steps into different dimensions: strange worlds of myth and mystical fantasy.

Mechanical Music-Hall
Today, Saturday November 20, we present a varied programme of music from, on, and sometimes by, machines.
And we mean musical machines in the broadest sense, from glass harmonicas, Victorian musical boxes and the mighty Symphonion, to steam organs, pianolas and barrel pianos on the one hand, but touching the capabilities of early computers and synthesisers on the other.
And don’t miss another chance to hear the latest episode of “Where Have You Been?” in which Caledonia and Elrik discuss two fascinating art galleries in Second Life.
