Who knew? There are over 200 Broadway musicals that are about, or set in New York City — The Big Apple. Seems like there’s nothing Broadway likes as well as that “toddlin’ town” where it makes its home. From “42nd Street,” to “West Side Story”, Caledonia shares a selection of music from the shows that celebrate NYC.
WYB S04E07: Bloom Light Show Residency at SLEA
The latest edition (S04E07) of “Where Have You Been?” — the VCRadio original series that features places to go and things to do around the Second Life Grid — takes a look at a stunning multimedia art experience at the Second Life Endowment for the Arts.
“Semence: A Digital Odyssey” is a light and particle show created by Lalie Sorbet and Chrix. The name “Semence” means “seed” in French, and also refers to the reproductive cell of all living forms. This symbolizes the essence of the artists’ exploration of a digital world filled with pixels, colors, shapes, and effects. “Semence” represents a journey through the cycle of life, from inception to growth and beyond, and uses the full potential of Second Life, integrating particles, meshes, animesh, and other effects to create a memorable experience.

Looking back, Caledonia examines four award-winning musicals and how they reflect the issues and self-identity of American culture contemporary to when they debuted. What does America think of itself and how does that change from the 1930s through today? Featuring the award-winning productions Of Thee I Sing, Fiorello!, 1776, and Hamilton.

One of our favourite things about the Community Showcase is how clearly it displays the wide variety of communities that thrive in Second Life. On sixteen general showcase regions you can find seemingly endless types of communities and resident activities from art, to education, role-play, and all sorts of communities that form around shared interests. With this year’s celebration theme of “The Elements” the community showcase is a great place to see so much of what Second Life is really all about.
