Where Have You Been? S04E13: Gingerbread and the Woodies
We’re pleased to present the latest episode in our original series, “Where Have You Been?”, where we discuss things to do and places to visit across the Second Life Grid.
Episodes are broadcast on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific Time.
In this episode we investigate a new installation at alpha tribe Island: “Gingerbread and the Woodies”.
Gingerbread and the Woodies on alpha tribe Island has been created by Alpha Auer and is exactly what it might sound like — a display of the season in wood and gingerbread. But what you’ll discover on alpha tribe Island is really much more. It’s full of delight, whimsy, and some mad-cool original mesh.
The level of detail in both the shape and the texturing is really impressive — it’s specific and sharp. You feel like you could reach out and snap off a delicious piece of gingerbread and it would be just as scrumptious as it looks. The wood figures look like they really have that unique warmth of wood if you could really touch them, and they have the patina of beloved age about them. The superb quality of the craftsmanship is mixed with a delightful sense of fun. It’s a lovely contrast — celebrating the spirit of the season in a way that is unique.
Alpha Auer is the CEO of the SL fashion line, alpha tribe. A long tenured teacher of graphic design in first life, Alpha really enjoys creating habitats and clothing for Second Life and OpenSim avatars.
Gingerbread and the Woodies makes a pleasant stop to add to anyone’s holiday explorations.
