Where Have You Been?: Ciampi and Porto Nuovo

The latest episode of our original series, “Where Have You Been?” which suggests things to do and places to visit around the Second Life Grid, this time explores the Italianate village of Ciampi and its harbor, Porto Nuovo, which are spread across over half a dozen abutting mainland regions. They were envisioned and created by Viggen Petofi who began over six years ago with the parcels on Bhima and a few more, and has built it out as land became available and he could purchase it. This show airs on August 23, 26, 30 and Sept 2 at 12 noon and 4pm SLT/Pacific.

And we’ll tell you about the region of Omidyar where you can see the Second Life Logo Region for yourself. And take a deep breath and wander the heights and valleys of the Forest of Karuhvel to discover what’s there to be found by the brave and persistent.

Weds 5th July: Join us for a live Tarot Talk at 1pm SLT

On Wednesday July 5th at 1pm SLT, join Virtual Community Radio at our SL20B headquarters on SLB Breathtaking, or tune in to http://main.vcradio.org for a special live “Tarot Talk” in which Honey Heart, Tarot expert and co-host of VCRadio’s original series, “Tarot @ Teatime”, discusses her recent research into Tarot reading, in conversation with Elrik Merlin. Having been a Tarot reader for 40 years, Honey has recently completed some original, detailed research into the Tarot, looking at what exactly goes on during a Tarot reading. Today’s presentation sheds new light on the potential possibilities for using the Tarot in transpersonal counseling and in other fields.

In addition, don’t miss the special SL20B edition of “Where Have You Been?” at 12 noon and 4pm SLT, where we look at some of the exhibits at the show and present some strategies for getting the best out of your visit. And “Engines of Our Ingenuity” from the University of Houston, every fourhours from 4am SLT/Pacific.

Throughout the day we are featuring music written for, inspired by, or contemporaneous with, the works of William Shakespeare, including both period and modern instrumentation.

The Glinka Gallery — Featuring artist Lash VV

June is Pride Month in the United States and many other countries, and that’s just one of the reasons that we’re featuring Wolfgang Glinka’s Glinka Gallery in this edition of “Where Have You Been?”.

For those who might not know, Pride Month started in 1969 in the United States as a response to the Stonewall riots, which served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world. The observance has grown and expanded over the years, and Pride Month celebrates LGBTQIA+ culture as well as working to build rights awareness.

The Glinka Gallery holds regular exhibitions and performances  on  the gallery’s five floors, featuring fine art, sculpture, photography, poetry, music and dance.

The Edge Gallery — in black & white

Kultivate Magazine is a publication about the cultural aspects of Second Life — and a lot more! Its goal is to support art, culture, photography, music, and fashion.

Kultivate’s endeavours in Second Life include the magazine (of course) but their grid presence is significant, incorporating, among other things, a number of galleries including The Edge Gallery of Black & White Imagery, which is the subject of this programme.

The Edge Gallery specifically features black and white imagery and art. We take a more detailed look at the current exhibit, which just opened, showing a variety of artists with unique approaches to monochrome 2‑D imagery.

Where Have You Been? — A New Season

We’re pleased to announce the start of the third series of our original programme, “Where Have You Been?”, where we discuss places to visit and things to do around the Second Life grid — and we try to ensure they’re usually things and places that the major commentators miss.

WYB” airs every Wednesday and Saturday at 12 noon and 4pm Pacific / SLT, and each episode is broadcast over a couple of weeks. And don’t miss “Engines of Our Ingenuity” from the University of Houston, every four hours from 4am Pacific.

Our destinations generally fall into one of three categories: Art, Exploration and Events. In the first episode of the new season, it’s the first of those, as we take a trip over to GBTH, aka “Grab By The Horns”  — a virtual visual arts incubator in Second Life, founded in October 2017 by Marina Münter.

“Where Have You Been?” Live from SL19B

Today, Saturday 25th June, at 2pm Pacific/SLT, that’s 10pm in the UK, we are broadcasting a special LIVE edition of our original series, “Where Have You Been?”, where we talk about things to do and places to see around the Second Life Grid. We’ll be broadcasting live from the VCRadio Tower at the Second Life 19th Birthday Community Celebrations, and we’ll be giving our picks from SL19B and suggesting a selection of locations around the SLB regions that you might enjoy visiting. We welcome you to come along and join the studio audience for this special live show. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB%20Imagination/110/188/24

Our Featured Music today is relaxing, tuneful and largely instrumental Smooth Jazz.

Because we’re running this special live edition, we won’t be broadcasting “Where Have You Been?” at the usual times today. However we will be repeating this live edition in the regular time slots on the 29th and July 2nd.
