Often on “Where Have You Been?” we fea­ture large-scale loca­tions — art gal­leries, nature regions and so on. But in addi­tion from time to time we’ve fea­tured small­er, more inti­mate venues ide­al for a qui­et chat with a friend or a date night.  “Where Have You Been?” is in a good posi­tion to fea­ture des­ti­na­tions like these. So we are start­ing a spe­cial occa­sion­al series to focus on small des­ti­na­tions, in addi­tion to con­tin­u­ing our cov­er­age of larg­er venues, art shows, and events: “Hid­den Gems — for date nights and spe­cial occa­sions.” And this episode is the first offi­cial Hid­den Gems episode.

It’s no coin­ci­dence that the first Hid­den Gem is the Retreat at Angel Manor. From April 15th our pop­u­lar month­ly series, “The Mag­ic of The Musi­cal” is com­ing live from the Gold Hall at Angel Manor and we are grate­ful to the Duke and Duchess of Angel Manor, Kaya Angel and Kezzy For­wzy, for their sup­port, and for the gen­eros­i­ty with which they are shar­ing their incred­i­ble estate with Vir­tu­al Com­mu­ni­ty Radio. (See here for pro­gramme details.) It moti­vat­ed us to explore a little.

This loca­tion is a tes­ta­ment to the high qual­i­ty detail of Angel Manor, and how dis­creet the set­ting is. It is a remote pavil­ion of sorts sur­round­ed on three sides by a lake.  It’s a qui­et, cool, scenic spot for relax­ation and seclusion.
